THE 'BLESS ME' CLUB

by john roy bohlen and John 5:30

There are some churches and ministries that are so inward and upward focused that they are not adequately balanced in the also need for outward focus, as in the need for a healthy fulfillment of the Great Commission.

Needed questions for each fellowship to ask itself would be:

"How long has it been since we commissioned and sent out people from our fellowship to minister elsewhere?"

"Are we a sending church?"

"Are we inclined to keep talented members to ourselves, or are we equipping and sending them?"

Arguments in favor of the inward focused fellowship would go something like this:

"Well, our people are not yet ready to send, so we need to continue to prepare them for that someday when we may send them somewhere."  Or,

"Our focus for the time being is on worship, getting to know God."

Balance is achieved when other factors are considered:

Jesus took ignorant and unlearned men and called them apostles and sent them out, after a short period of training.

After 3 years, Jesus left those whom He had trained and commanded them to go to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the World.

As soon as the Early Church was born, the Lord allowed them to be scattered to the farthest reaches of the globe.

Jesus gave us the Great Commission, that we should go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, and teach them to, among other things, fulfill the Great Commission!

The story is told of a place where missionaries had to leave their post of missions, but as they were in the ship, ready to leave, the natives came running out, on top of the water, and asked the departing missionaries, "We only have the Book of John.  What do we do now?"

The truth is, that in many countries of the world, a new convert is made to be a pastor himself, within a few months of his or her conversion.

The "Left Behind" series is very popular now.  But many Christians do not realize that the next thing on God's agenda is not the Rapture.  The next thing on God's agenda is the fulfillment of the Great Commission.  A proof of this is found in Matthew 23:14, which says, "And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the End come."  KJV

WE must ask the questions,

"To what extent has the Gospel of the Kingdom been preached in all the world for a witness to all the Nations?" and, "If this Gospel of the Kingdom is NOT preached in all the world for a witness to all the Nations, will the End come?"  The answer to the second question is "NO!!!"  The answer to the first question goes like this:  That approximately 5 % of the World's population of nearly 7 billion people, has been born again.  There are over 1.4 billion Moslems.   There are over 1 billion Chinese.  There are nearly 1 billion people in India.

This percentage of 5 % has stayed approximately the same for over 100 years, in spite of the population increase.  There are billions and billions of people who have never heard the Gospel of the Kingdom, and we refuse to fulfill the Great Commission???
