LAW VS. GRACE VS. LAWby John Roy Bohlen & John 5:30 This article is in loving response to another article taken from The House of David Herald,: The Voice of Messianic Israel, by Batya Ruth Wootten, dated 4/10/2003. The statement was made on page 2 that Abraham kept the Torah. No, he did not, as the Torah was not given. But he did obey God. Abraham's association with the Torah is too contrived. The word, "Yahveh" continues to be used in this article. As the German Jews pronounce the ‘w' as a ‘v', making the ‘waw' into a ‘vav', the influence comes from Germany. The proper way to pronounce the Divine Name in not in German fashion. It is supposed to be "Yahweh". On page 3. the inference is made that the Torah is what is to be written on our hearts. But the Bible clearly states that we are given a NEW covenant, a BETTER covenant, etc. If it is new, and if it is better, it, must of necessity, be different, new, and better. This automatically means that the "Old", and the "not as good" was done away with. The word ‘Yeshua' is repeatedly used in the place of Jesus. Actually, His Name is "Yah" + "Shua", or Yahshua, like Joshua. The salvation of Yahweh. "Yeshua" means "blotted out". When Yahshua said to the Jews, in John 5:39-40 "You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life." (NAS) The Jews made the mistake of believing that the Torah was the solution to their problem, when all the while the Solution was in their midst, trying to talk to them. Today, we can make the same mistake, to be in love with the pre-marriage love letters, instead of being currently intimate with the One Who wrote those letters. Page 6: Jesus came to fulfill the Torah. (Mt.5:17). Having fulfilled it, we are no longer to be waiting for its fulfillment. The ticket to the concert was used up, fulfilled, so that we could get into the concert. The marriage has been fulfilled. Now, God wants us to get on with the marriage, and not to be stuck in pre-nuptial agreements. "Hang all the law and the prophets". Exactly. He wants us to hang all the law and the prophets, and get on with the business of loving the Lord our God fervently, and to love each other fervently. Yahshua says that if we will do this, we won't need to worry about the Torah. "The least of these commandments" does not refer to the Torah, but to the New Commandments that Yahshua was giving, the Beatitudes, etc. Those who recommend the present day keeping of the Torah, do an interesting thing to make ineffective every New Testament admonition to stop practicing Torah. They take every verse that speaks against present day Torah keeping and define that verse as applying to "Legalism". But, these verses are not speaking against "Legalism". These New Testament verses are speaking against Old Testament Torah keeping!!! The Jewish New Testament twists the meaning of Torah, to "the legalistic observance of the Torah", and thus tries to convince people that the New Testament gives us a New Covenant, a better Covenant, a better sacrifice, a better offering, a better, better, better, better... P. 8: Paul did not encourage the people to observe any of the Feasts, in 1 Corinthians 5:8, or any other place. Just because he happened to observe one or two of the feasts, does not mean that he felt that he had too, or that we have to. People take Paul out of context when they imply that Paul implied that we should keep the law. Paul speaks of two laws: Rom 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death." (NAS) The law that we have been set free from is the law of sin and death = the TORAH!!! Paul was not speaking against Moses. He was speaking against the New Testament observance of the Old Testament Torah! P.9: In Galatians 3:13 when Paul said that we have been delivered from the curse of the law", he meant that God has delivered us from the need to be keeping Old Testament old Torah! P. 11: I agree with the entire page!!! But page 12 tries to turn everyone around and come again under the old tutor, the old, the old, the old, the old. But the Bible commands us, Gal 5:1: "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." (KJV) The yoke of bondage refers to the Old Testament Torah law keeping!!! But the pro-torah people here sing the sweet seductive song to entice us back under the Old Torah yoke of bondage! P. 13: How is it that when God says that it will be a "NEW COVENANT" "NOT LIKE THE OLD COVENANT" that, first thing you know, these Old Covenant Torah keepers, are having us go back to the Old Covenant, that is EXACTLY LIKE the Old Covenant, because it IS the Old Torah Covenant!!! Amazing!!!
Gal 5:1 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (KJV) There are those who advocate our staying under the Old Torah. But God promises us: from (NAS) 1. Heb 6:9 "better things concerning you," 2. Heb 7:19 "a better hope," 3. Heb 7:22 "a better covenant". 4. Heb 8:6 "better promises" 5. Heb 9:23 "better sacrifices" 6. Heb 10:34 "a better possession and an abiding one" 7. Heb 11:16 "a better country, that is a heavenly" 8. Heb 11:35 "a better resurrection" 9. Heb 11:40 "something better for us, so that.." 10. Heb 12:24 "sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel." But these people who advocate Old Testament Torah law keeping, are wanting us to return to a yoke of bondage, the Law of sin and death, an old law, a worse law, a worse hope, a worse covenant, a worse set of promises, worse sacrifices, a worse country, a worse resurrection, something worse for us, and a worse blood!!! No thanks, I plan to stick with the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Yahshua Jesus. Amen. I plan to "stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has set me free, and not be entangled again in the law of bondage of sin and death. == the Torah. Amen!!!
